"Instead of toil and moil/ spinning like a mad top/ To grow comfortably old/ frozen and fat/ He would just follow his dreams/ on his inner-eye-angel eyelids/ Their reflected rainbow gleams/ till he was finnaly there, hurrah!/ Rapture-without-stop/ dancing with the contraband angels/ On a single shiny dewdrop!"  Excerpt from "HE HAD SET THE ALARM CLOCK FOR RESURRECTION" in PIGEON FEATHER, selected poems by Irving stettner

It is my sad duty to report that Irving Stettner passed away the early morning of January 16, 2004.  A limited number of books and paintings are still available from his wife Mihoko Stettner.

Irving Stettner, writer and watercolorist, is the editor and publisher of Stroker; the only magazine Henry Miller (Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn) wrote for, in his last years.  The friendship between Irving and Henry touched both lives.  In an interview for National Public Radio, Henry spoke warmly of Irving and said "Stroker is my supreme delight."

Irving Stettner is an accomplished writer.  He has written numerous works, both prose and poetry, based on his life in NYC, Paris, Tokyo and points unknown.  He is also an acclaimed watercolorist, with over 25 one-man shows in the United States, France and Japan.  His paintings are cherished by collectors all over the world.
IRVING STETTNER

Mihoko Kato, Japanese born, is the wife of Irving Stettner and the Assistant Editor of Stroker.  She was an art student in NYC prior to meeting Irving.  Their child, May, fluent in Japanese and English, already shows promise as a writer and artist.  The family has many relatives and friends in Japan.
